I am extremely into décor and when moving into an apartment with my boyfriend, that was my chance to express my adult taste. Our apartment overall has a darker, minimal and glamorous feel. Because this is my first time living with a boyfriend, I had to really shoot for gender neutral designs or things that weren’t going to make him uncomfortable. He is a bit older than me and has great taste as well so he was able to see the vibes I was going for. We are currently looking to move to the East side of the city to either another boujee apartment or a house. So things will change overall (and improve!) and I can’t wait to share that with people who are as into décor and home design as much as I am!
Bed and Bedding
When searching for a perfect bedding, it can get hard if you don’t have a bed in mind. I knew I wanted a tufted headboard so I kind of started there. I found a bedding designer via Nordstrom and Macy’s and she is the exact vibes I was going for. Donna Karan is luxurious and neutral and very pretty for a decent price (I say decent like I didn’t spend $3k on bedding). As far as pillows, I bought one to go with my set but you can find most decorative pillows for awesome prices at HomeGoods. Filling a bed up is key for adding depth to the room and doing “more with less” aka less furniture in the room. So I will include some key pieces I added to my bedding.
- First off, my bed. This is my exact bed from Wayfair but unfortunately the king size (the size I have) is no longer available in my color.
- Now for the bedding, the sheets and silk quilt are currently available from Donna Karan. The duvet I just purchased from HomeGoods. Now the duvet cover and pillow shams from Donna Karan are sold out but I have included one or two other sets I like. The large Euro King pillows are from HomeGoods and the silk shams which are the same style from Donna Karan to match my silk quilt, only come in a moss color. The small black pillow is Donna Karan (sorry it is sold out) and the gold one is DKNY from HomeGoods!
- My artwork is my most prized part of the room! I am inlove with Gossip Girl (just like everyone in this world) and always knew I would have Richard Phillips ‘Dirty Scout’ hanging over my bed. I told Zach that was the one non-negotiable thing about the apartment. I actually center the room design around the picture and it worked out really well! I have the largest size and it is currently $200ish off.
Now for my nightstands, we had a difficult time finding something that matched the vibes of the room. I also included marble candles from Bath and Body Works on each side and a Rose Quartz on my side and a Black Tourmaline on Zach’s side.
- Nightstands are from the At Home store, I don’t absolutely love them and will still be looking if something else pops up. The lights are from IKEA and I am inlove with them! The shades come in different colors (and are slightly different from the ones I have for some reason) and I will probably add different colored ones into other rooms when we move.
Stand Up Mirror
I always think a leaning stand up mirror really adds to the room and makes it seem a bit bigger. This mirror is from HomeGoods so it is hard to say if they will have this exact one but they have a ton of the leaning mirrors in general!
My little trunk is temporary and it holds all of my whips and chains and X rated stuff (sorry if my parents ever see this) but I am going to look for a different trunk that matches the room more. My ideal trunk would be a vintage Louis Vuitton trunk, so whenever I have extra money laying around, that will be at the top of my list!
